Cold Springs Vineyard
Nestled high a top Howell Mountain, our Cold Springs vineyard produces the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The vineyard is farmed organically using practices that best care for the soil, the vines and the people who tend to them. We harvested our first vintage from these vines in 2010 and will be ready to release this wine in the spring of 2013.
The vineyard consists of two separate blocks with the lower block planted to 2.8 acres of clone 337 and 1.2 acres of clone 4. The upper block is planted to 1.5 acres of clone 7. Each clone has unique characteristics that contribute to the overall flavor and nuances of the wine. Clone 337 tends to provide the structure and backbone for our Cabernet while Clone 4 is a bit more robust adding great intensity to the wine. We like to think that it is clone 7 that brings out the wonderful opulence in the wine. Pina Vineyard Management has been farming vineyards in the Napa Valley for over 40 years. Our Cold Springs vineyard was developed by Pina Vineyard Management and continues to be farmed by them.
