'11 Petite Sirah

Vineyard
Our 2011 Petite Sirah comes from Bald Mountain Vineyard on Mt Veeder. At an elevation of 2,000 feet, Bald Mountain is a cooler, lower-yielding growing location than other parts of the valley. The 2011 vintage was one of the most challenging vintages in recent Napa Valley history with a cool growing season and heavy October rains. Despite these conditions, some exceptional wines were made from the 2011 vintage and mountain fruit fared exceptionally well.

Winemaking
Petite Sirah is considered one of the biggest and most tannic red wines made in the Napa Valley winemaking region and our 2011 Petite Sirah is no exception. This is a big wine from a challenging vintage with lots of complexity and great aging ability. Aged in 50% new French oak for 18 months, our winemaker blended Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot into the wine for a deep, fruit-driven wine with layers of complexity from start to finish.

Tasting Notes
This is a fruit-driven, inky-colored wine with intense aromas of blackberry fruit and nuances of anise and lavender. These generous aromatics give way to classic flavors of blackberry, pepper and hints of warm spice. The wine coats your palate with big tannins and intense fruit flavors from start to finish. This wine will gain elegance and complexity as it ages.
