'10 Grenache

Aromas of blackberry pie and white pepper infiltrate the nose as ripe flavors of cherry intermingle on the palate. On the final sip, hints of ginger and caramel linger on the finish. A perfect pairing with Gary & Kit’s Napa Valley Smoked Paprika Almonds.

We love Rhone varietals and received an opportunity to source this beautiful Grenache from the central coast. Our winemakers took the Grenache and blended with Lake County Petite Sirah adding balance and nice tannic structure to the wine. We are excited to include this Grenache in our family of wines.

The 2010 growing season in Paso Robles was unique as extreme high and low temperatures were experienced with wind and rain playing a major role throughout the season. A cooler end to the season gave the grapes prolonged time to evenly ripen. Lake County, located 200 miles north of Paso Robles, had a later than usual harvest start. Similar weather conditions were endured with a cooler than normal summer. There was low yield of high quality fruit for the 2010 harvest season.

The 2010 vintage is a blend of 77% Grenache from Paso Robles and 23% Petite Sirah from Lake County. The wine was fermented in French Oak barrels for 14 months.
